Beautiful Baby Showers

When one of my oldest friends announced she was pregnant, it seemed to be the most obvious thing for 'us girls' to throw a baby shower for her, something that would have been pretty unheard of a few years ago.   This Americanism has really caught on with the twenty/thirty somethings du jour.  My friend is the first of my friendship group to have a baby so this is a new tradition for us all.  Move over hen parties which we have nailed down to a tee, personalised invitations, gifts, games and pampering, yes we can organise one of these in a heartbeat, we've had enough practice, but it's time to embrace a new party style...the baby shower!

Bring on the baby themed cakes, sandwiches and games galore.

Of course how do you accessories this most feminine event?  An elegant and calming soiree is key with a subtle colour palette, obviously blue for a boy, pink for a girl, or a pale lemon/cream palette.

Here are some of our favourite images to find inspiration from...

Baby Shower Must Haves:

1.  Finger sandwiches
2.  Tea from teapot and saucers
3.  Champagne (for guests of course!)
4.  Novelty cakes/biscuits
5.  Flowers for decoration
6.  Games - you an get some great ideas online

You can really infuse the 'baby theme' in your cakes and biscuits.  This cup cake tower just screams celebration!

If you haven't got time to make biscuits, Biscuiteers make the most perfect baby biscuits around which are frankly too cute to eat!

Party sandwiches are a must...

Coconut cupcakes...

Sweet bunny biscuits...

Embrace the afternoon tea theme with Butterfly Lane's pretty rose print cups, saucers and teapot...

Flowers are a must and add a feminine, prettiness and of course a sense of occasion.

Welcome guests with this gorgeous wreath...

Cool Kid's Rooms

Finding fun ways to decorate your children's bedrooms can be challenging especially if you want them to mirror the way your home flows which means not being cartoon inspired and in prime colours.

At Butterfly Lane we are beginning to expand our 'Little Butterflies' collection and have found some gorgeous accessories to create a room that your little one will love AND that you will feel has design kudos.   Win, win!

Well, we are all about a neutral colour scheme here at Butterfly Lane, and using a grey colour palette need not be cold and sterile but instead look chic and homely for your little one.

Here are some of our favourites...

Stripes, spots and zig-zags, we love this style for a baby through to a teenager!   The bull head on the wall is very cool indeed.

Pretty enough for a princess.  This style bedroom will mirror your home perfectly with the taupe walls, luxurious curtains, stylish artwork, chandelier, mirrored furniture...need I go on!

We love this star wallpaper and numbered cushions.  Perfect for a growing boy!

Grey and baby pink...what a stylish combination.

Blue stripy wallpaper and fun artwork creates a fabulous nursery.

Football fabric is perfect for a boys bedroom.

Butterfly Lane has discovered these amazing felt animal heads to hang on your little one's wall.  Use as a decoration or as a elaborate hook.  Available now for £65 each.  Which is your favourite?

Our new fabric and wallpaper collection is fun and so stylish.  Available in a multitude of colour ways too.  From cowboys to gymkhana to an enchanted wood print, you'll struggle to find anything more fabulous!  Shop the collection HERE.

Inspiration For Monday

Mondays, lets face it, can be tedious.  So I thought I would document a few images that have inspired me for the week ahead.  From chic and simple kitchens to spectacular studies, I am eager to create something beautiful this week.  How about you?

This French Grey kitchen is so simple.  I love the use of leather pouffe style seating instead of  conventional high stools.

Bright, airy and those lights...need I say more?

A classic bedroom, and I love the chunky bedside tables.

Wow, wow, wow, I want this study please!

This is a tad u-turn in design style for Butterfly Lane, but I have a massive penchant to this style furniture at the moment - give me an Ercol inspired leg and I'm happy!

Summer in a room!

I just love dark furniture with light fabrics, striking yet incredibly simple.

This dark taupe room inspired me to splash the same colour on one of my bedroom walls over the Easter break.  Against tall white glossy skirting and light fabrics it looks super chic...even if I say so myself!

All I need to say is that I want this kitchen...now!

What's inspiring you this week?
