Trend: Monochrome
This summer will see the fashion world divided between brights and monochrome, and I know exactly which camp I'll be joining...the one of classic black and white. No other two shades can look both effortless and stylish, even in humbug style stripes!
This trend transcends in your home too, and it looks so understated and sophisticated. A fresh backdrop of white with strong defining outlines of black looks fabulous and I can't wait to use the look in my home.
Glamorous, spacious and oh so sleek, this a classic combination and one of my favourites. Some may say it's cold or boring (how dare they!), but it really does brighten even the darkest of room...read more

I was surprised to see the ever-enchanting sight of blossom already in bloom at the boyfriends London pad. Surely this is way too soon? Anyway, I'm sure that the predicted cold snap will sharply rid the trees spring-like thoughts unfortunately.
Well, blossom might not officially be here yet, but at least we can think about its pretty palette of pastel pink...read more

So, the colour of 2013 will be green. From clothes, jewels and interiors this fresh shade will be dominant. I have made it abundantly clear about my desire of neutral, uncompromising interiors, but a hint of colour is always welcome. Green is such a fresh and spring-like shade, and a pop looks great against a neutral backdrop. Seasonal colours can be tricky, do you really want to redecorate your entire home to stay en vogue? Instead I suggest to just invest in some accessories. Cushions, curtains, vases et al will really change the mood of a room and get it ready for the brighter months ahead...read more

Summer days are looming and here at Butterfly Lane I am starting to think about yellow hues and sunshine pops of colour. Tropical prints have been massive on the catwalks this season and this can be easily translated in to your home....read more

The sun is eventually shining after a rather wet Bank Holiday Weekend, and here at Butterfly Lane we are thinking about livening up a neutral colour palette with hints of fruity pinks and dusky tones. A pop of pink looks amazing against soft greys...read more

So Paris Fashion Week is here and the big players in the fashion world are out in force, from Lanvin to Isabel Marant and my absolute favourite of all the shows this season, Christian Dior. Even though it was spiked with controversy and drama, after all it was only a year since Galliano’s scandal and only the second ready-to-wear show with Bill Gaytten at the helm. Still rumors circulate about who is linked with the infamous Dior job, will it be Stefano Pilati who has just left Yves Saint Laurent or Raf Simons who has just showed his last Jil Sander collection, watch this space! Anyway, it looks like Gaytten will be going nowhere fast, as he created a dream like, refined and sophisticated collection for this legendary brand...read more

Fashion Week has hit our capital and it is great to see London alive with creativity and beautiful things for AW12. I know, I know, you’ll be happy to see the back of this Winter and focus on some al fresco, sun drenched dining…but surely it’s great to have a sneak peak in to the trends for next Winter! This morning Mulberry took centre stage with a spectacular show, with amazing winter-tastic clothing, and I wouldn’t say no to the new ‘Del Rey’ bag either, any colour, I don’t mind! The collection was really textural with hand knits and different types of fur, but unfortunately we’ll have to wait until July to get our hands on the collection, so why not infuse this in to your homeware now to be one step ahead of the fashion pack. Although maybe try a slightly lighter colour palette for the Spring...read more

After spending some time at the Spring Fair this week, I was so excited to look at the upcoming trends for SS12 and of course super excited for discovering some beautiful homeware pieces for the Butterfly Lane launch...and I wasn't disappointed! I stocked up on amazing sparkling glassware, timeless lighting and elegant ceramics, along with some country kitchen classics (I am a sucker for a quirky chicken!). We saw a few stand out trends for the season ahead, one being a strong influence of pineapples and palm trees which I've wistfully named our Club Tropicana trend! Don't worry, this trend isn't as gaudy or brash as it might sound, instead it featured elegant lamps with delicate palm leaves, cream sculptured bookends carved in to...read more

Taupe, beige, cream, stone, putty, call it what you will, I love this colour palette! Trust me it is not boring to invest in this colour scheme, these tones are the ideal backdrop for bolder statements in design to showcase furniture, fabrics and home accessories.
Don't get me wrong my love of neutral based shades occasionally goes off piste...well ever so slightly. I'm loving a cool shade of grey at the moment, in fact I have just painted one of my bedrooms in Farrow and Ball's Elephant Breath with a toning accent on the chimney breast of its warmer sibling Skimming Stone. The cool shades against the heavy beams looks so light and airy, I love, love, love the final result!
I now just need the...read more
