A Weekend Wardrobe

My baby bump is getting bigger by the day, but at 25 weeks I'm still managing to fit in to my existing wardrobe, or simply buying a size or two bigger from 'normal' collections seems to do the trick...for the time being anyway.

But I'm already dreaming of my new yummy mummy wardrobe.  Since I left the world of fashion two years ago to launch Butterfly Lane, my wardrobe has become dramatically more casual.  No more do I dress in heels, a dress and over-the-top accessories on a Monday morning, now I'm more jeans, a knit and a ballet pump kinda girl...but still with the over-the-top accessories - I can't resist!  So maybe my transition in to 'yummy mummy' (or maybe 'slummy mummy', who knows!), is half way there already.

I pulled a quick outfit together this afternoon that I love, I have described it as 'weekend luxe', as once upon a time this would have been my fail safe Sunday outfit, but now it's a Monday through to Sunday look.  I hope you like.

Knit: Ganni from my-wardobe.com, Jeans: Zara, Shoes:  French Sole, Handbag:  Tory Burch from my-wardrobe.com

Dining in Style

The dining room is maybe the most unused room in your house, right?  Tucked away with a closed door until Christmas or the odd dinner party.  But that is no excuse to have a boring space, instead they should scream hospitality and style.  Here are some of my favourite styles at the moment for a decadent space...

I love everything about this room:  the plush carpet, the stylish furniture and the fun accessories, and the bowls of apples add that pop of colour in an informal way.

Lighting is so important in any room, but especially in the entertaining space in your home.  This statement chandelier gives the room an added wow factor, and those plush velvet chairs against the dark wood are sublime.

I'm all about a round table at the moment, and I am on the hunt for the perfect one.  I love the idea of a glass top, but frankly with a baby on the way and a man with a severe cleaning disorder (fingerprints anyone), I think this might push us over the edge but keep Pledge in business!  But in theory, this style is 'the one'.  So instead I am looking for a table with a pedestal base or something 'unique', and I think this suite below is just gorgeous!

I think a dining room is a great space to experiment with colour (I know, I know says the girl with the grey...white...sometimes taupe house!).  But a bold colour works very well in a dining room, just see below...

A roaring fire is the dream in a dining room, especially for festive entertaining.  I had to showcase this dining room below simply for the stunning, albeit modern, fire place.  It sits perfectly against a traditional table and chairs.

A pop of colour but this time not on the walls!  These chairs work perfectly against the lacquered black table and vibrant violet flowers.

What is your dream dining room like?

Our New Style

Our blog is two years old now and we've had a small re-design.  We have just launched our new brand 'header' and a new web address, www.butterflylaneblog.co.uk.  I hope you all like it!

When looking through all my images over the past two years when designing the main header shots, these are the ones that jumped out to be the most in-line with Butterfly Lane's style at the moment. It's interesting to see how our style and taste is always evolving...

Ice Cream Shades

This season ice cream shades are the go to shade to stay 'cool' (pun intended), whether in fashion or in your home.  These sweet shades are dominating the shop floors with beautiful soft displays of pale pinks, mint choc-chip green, lilac and soft blues.

These tones work great with a neutral background as you can introduce this soft palette easily with accessories, plush soft furnishings and pretty flowers.

The delicate and refreshing palette looks fantastic in sumptuous fabrics such as velvet, as seen on these amazing cube stools below, which happen to be on my hit list for my next furniture buy.

Love these plush stools - a great storage solution too!

A subtle and chic introduction to the trend...

More tempting ice creams...

This trend translates fantastically in to fashion too.  Maggie Gyllenhaal did this stunning shoot for Net-a-Porter's THE EDIT with an elegant and cool collection of ice cream tones.
