Colour: Duck Egg Blue

I'm loving the fresh feel of duck egg blue at the moment.  I am in the process of designing a bedroom with this relaxing and cool shade.  I'm teaming the plains walls with painted white furniture and multi-layer shades from the palette with the soft furnishings...and just a small hint of pale grey.  I have added my mood boards below for you to have a look at.

I know this isn't a bedroom, but the below image was something that grabbed my 'duck egg' attention.  The shade works so well with pale greys too.

I am also in love with the amazing light fitting, what a feature!

Ice Cream Shades

This season ice cream shades are the go to shade to stay 'cool' (pun intended), whether in fashion or in your home.  These sweet shades are dominating the shop floors with beautiful soft displays of pale pinks, mint choc-chip green, lilac and soft blues.

These tones work great with a neutral background as you can introduce this soft palette easily with accessories, plush soft furnishings and pretty flowers.

The delicate and refreshing palette looks fantastic in sumptuous fabrics such as velvet, as seen on these amazing cube stools below, which happen to be on my hit list for my next furniture buy.

Love these plush stools - a great storage solution too!

More tempting ice creams...

This trend translates fantastically in to fashion too.  Maggie Gyllenhaal did this stunning shoot for Net-a-Porter's THE EDIT with an elegant and cool collection of ice cream tones.

The Trend Report: Part I, Pink

If in doubt, make it pink for spring/summer 2014...

It's time to see your home through rose, cerise, fuchsia, magenta or blush tinted glasses.

Pink was the stand out colour at London Fashion Week, the feminine shade dominated Burberry, Preen and Temperley.  This sweet pink Temperley outfit is just gorgeous!

Therefore, it is only natural that this trend will transfer in to interior design.

This sitting room is all out pink, from wall colour to fabrics.  But it still manages to look stylish and calming...not at all bubblegum or Barbie!

Winter Warmers

I'm a freak of nature, because I'm one of the rare few people who love the colder weather!  I'm giddy with excitement as I type this blog, wrapped in my Malene Birger chunky knit, the light of lamps making the room glow with cosiness and a cup of tea steaming on the desk...are you annoyed with me yet?

Rooms can feel transformed at winter by adding the cosy factor, and here at Butterfly Lane we've had some seriously snuggly yet glamorous throws arrive.  I'm completely spoilt for choice!

Our Luxury Sequin & Velvet Throws are a bestseller at Butterfly Lane and we have added to brood by offering lots of different sizes and colours too.  Choose from pewter, silver, platinum or gold.    To spoil you further, matching cushions are available too.

We've also had these super soft and snuggly throws arrive in a recent delivery.  But don't be startled by the creamy colour of this throw - it's machine washable, phew!

Faux fur never goes out of style and this brown one will look fabulous thrown over an armchair or at the bottom of your bed.

As a special readers discount, we are offering 15% off all Throws and Cushions on Butterfly Lane.  Use the voucher code READEROFFER at the checkout to redeem your discount.  Happy shopping!

Celebrity: Inside Cameron Diaz's New York Apartment

Cameron Diaz has opened the doors of her swish New York apartment for Elle Decor this month, and here at Butterfly Lane we couldn't resist sharing it with our readers.

Her 2,400 square foot prewar apartment is said to be inspired by the actresses 'innately sexy personality'.  Her home was designed by interior designer Kelly Wearstler, and Cameron describes it beautifully as like living in a 'silk lined jewellery box'.

The rooms scream feminine luxury, even the drawers are lined in raw black silk.  Each room is full of shiny, sparkling accessories, which Cameron says stems from her Cuban roots.

The rooms remain sexy without being overtly flashy....well that's Cameron Diaz for you!

Explore her rooms below.  What do you think to her style?

Trend: Klein Blue

Klein Blue dominated New York fashion week as the 'go to' shade for autumn/winter 2013, with Lacoste, Michael Kors and Marc by Marc Jacobs showcasing some stunning designs.

This shade is so striking that I would love to introduce it in to every element of my day-to-day life!  So here I have tried, with a virtual wish list for the season ahead...

So a piece of Marc by Marc Jacobs will start the season off nicely.  This electric colour will amp up winter plaids and tweeds.

Delicate Florals Thanks to Sophie Allport

We have always been big fans of Sophie Allport's quintessentially British designs here at Butterfly Lane, so we just knew her new spring collection wouldn't disappoint.

The simple fine bone china dining staples are adorned with a pretty and delicate pink rose.  Available in mugs, milk jugs and even a tea pot, the collection is a fantastic set to start  collecting.

It is timeless and classic and whilst sipping from the pretty cups and saucers you will feel the epitome of elegance.

Here Sophie sets the scene...

“I’m a passionate gardener and the English Rose has always been a favourite.  I’ve loved designing this collection and only ever launch something that I would be happy to have in my own home.  The English Rose encapsulates all that is beautiful about a British Summer garden,” explained Sophie.  “This range helps to bring some of that magic inside!”

We also love the rose fabric, which blends a rather stylish twist with a subtle grey stripe.  I have indulged in the tea towel, oven gloves and tea cosy set which will look beautiful in my French Grey kitchen.

Here are a few more Butterfly Lane favourites from the collection.

Tea Cup & Saucer £14, Tea Pot £30

'Roses' Oven Gloves, £14

Many Roses Mug, £9.00
Also available in a Single Rose option.

Tea Cup & Saucer

Mini Milk Jug

Single Rose Mug, £9.00

The Sophie Allport 'Roses' collection is now available to buy at Butterfly Lane.

What's your favourite piece from the collection?
