Halloween Style

It's that time of year again for ghouls, goblins and all things spooky, but here at Butterfly Lane we like to take a more grown up and stylish take on the traditional Halloween pumpkin and inject some seasonal pizazz in to your home.

Here are our ideas below:

What to Buy This Week: Ceramic Lady Bust

My sitting room is a shell of a room at the moment, ready to be dressed and accessorised (the best bit!).  But one thing that has been given pride of place already is my ceramic lady bust - I love it!  Buy it here.

Buy the Lady Bust from Butterfly Lane, £19.95
This decorative accessory looks great in every room, in a bathroom, in a bedroom to hang jewellery from...or just placed on a sideboard as I have done here.

Lamp from Laura Ashley, £160
The bare room and walls are ready to accessorise!

Before & After: My Kitchen

After...

I thought I'd share a project of mine with you...our kitchen renovation at Beech House.  We transformed the rather fussy sitting room (below) in to a family friendly kitchen/diner (above).

Here is me making notes before we moved in!

We decluttered the fireplace and added a log burning stove, along with hanging my favourite wall plaque which is available to buy at Butterfly Lane.

Before
We kept the colour palette simple by using cool greys and Farrow & Ball's Wimborne White on the walls.

All we need now is the perfect dining table to fill this space...

The Mirror Affect

I'm a bit of a mirror junky, I love them in every room, in fact I have them in every room in my home, even my kitchen!  Now this addiction is not at all in a vain sense, but instead, in a styling sense.

The main pro's of popping a mirror on the wall are:

1.  They make the space look bigger

2.  You can buy so many fabulous styles, so they are more like a thing of beauty than a functional accessory.

Here are a few of my favourite ways to accessorise a room with mirrors.

A fabulous triple mirror threat in this bathroom...

A mirrored wall in this bathroom crates the illusion of ample space and reflects the light.

I love, love, love mirrored furniture and this piece is gorgeous...

No dressing table would be complete without a mirror.  This one is so elegant.

This simple shaped mirror creates the feeling of space.

This mirrored bed is just fabulous!

For the Home: Cream Flowers

Regular readers will know that I have a passion for fresh flowers.  Nothing makes a room look more complete and welcoming than a spray of something gorgeous!

I'm having a moment of loving simple cream stems with just the foliage adding the zesty pop of colour.  I think they look fabulous sat in glass vases and the shapes below look modern, clean and chic.

I love these chubby hydrangea heads, they look neat tucked inside this silver vase.

Beautiful Soft Furnishings

Our best seller at Butterfly Lane is also the most beautiful, no surprise there!  Our glamorous and decadent throws and cushions with stunning velvet and sequin details will make your bedroom or sitting room ooze with extra indulgence.

Each style of throw and cushion is available in gold, pewter, platinum or silver, and in a variety of sizes and shapes.

I love the idea of a smaller throw simply draped over the arm of a chair or sofa...

Colour: Duck Egg Blue

I'm loving the fresh feel of duck egg blue at the moment.  I am in the process of designing a bedroom with this relaxing and cool shade.  I'm teaming the plains walls with painted white furniture and multi-layer shades from the palette with the soft furnishings...and just a small hint of pale grey.  I have added my mood boards below for you to have a look at.

I know this isn't a bedroom, but the below image was something that grabbed my 'duck egg' attention.  The shade works so well with pale greys too.

I am also in love with the amazing light fitting, what a feature!

A Quick Glance at My Week

My weeks are beginning to fly by in a blur of painting, decorating, preparing for the arrival of our of little girl and dare I even say it...organising the Christmas collections at Butterfly Lane.

This week at Beech House we have had all the sash windows painted, a job that I have dreaded for months so we decided to hire a lovely man called Ned to finish them for us.  It really has given our house a lovely facelift and I am as pleased as punch.

These light and airy rooms are inspiring me at the moment...as are the beautiful hydrangeas in the picture below!

I cannot stop eating strawberries at the moment (maybe my little bun in the oven is clued up that Wimbledon has started!).  I am literally going through a punnet a day, so this salad is so summery and fresh.

Strawberries, Mango, Red Onion and Rocket

We are just finishing our Christmas Lookbook here at Butterfly Lane HQ and here is a very quick peek in to our new 'candlelight' collection...

I'm eying up these gorgeous patent Valentino Rockstuds as a my next indulgence.  The perfect addition to a pair of boyfriend jeans.

Valentino Rockstuds
Work on the nursery continues and I can't stand the cuteness of this bag full of bunnies for one of the windowsills, I can't wait to see them all flopperly lined up.  Yes, you guessed it, the theme seems to be bunnies!

To top off my week, I've just had a message to let me know that my lovely friend has had a lovely little boy, congratulations!

Hope you've all had a fabulous week.

Loving This Week...

Hello Butterfly Lane readers.  I have been away for quite a while, so I'm sorry if you've missed our updates!  But, I'm back, and get ready for daily updates from Butterfly Lane!

I thought I'd ease ourselves back in to bloggersphere by showcasing a few of my favourite images that I've stumbled across this week...

A stylish kitchen...

I'm busy decorating my little one's nursery at the moment, and scouring images for inspiration.  This room (pictured below) isn't for baby, but I love this look for a few years down the line.

I'm translating grown up elements in to my nursery at the moment, chandeliers, glass mirrors and a velvet chair and I think this has the same principles...a child's room that still fits (and flows) with your home's style.

Modern glamour...you've got to love it!

Summer time is here and it gets me thinking about al fresco dining...I could sit in the space forever!

Our autumn collections have started to arrive and this clock is one of my favourites.  So much so that it hangs with pride at Butterfly Lane HQ.

£60, buy here.

Another kitchen, another style.  I love the grey, I love the drinks chiller and I love the multi leveled island.

What has inspired you this week?
